For those who question Frankie Edgar’s decision victory over BJ Penn at UFC 112 in Abu Dhabi and doubted he could repeat his performance in the main event of UFC 118, I hope you enjoy silence. Frankie Edgar not only went into his immediate rematch with Penn and showed his previous fight which earned him the UFC lightweight crown was no fluke, he also beat Penn in a way no other lightweight, in fact no other fighter short of Georges St. Pierre, has beaten BJ before. Belcher was ROBBED my friends. I cannot believe the judge scored that fight 3 rounds to Akiyama. Belcher was in top form, and granted Akiyama was no slouch, but it was obvious to anyone watching the fight that Belcher had Akiyama hurt and deserved the win. ALAN BELCHER VS. YOSHIHIRO AKIYAMA – Winner: Akiyama – Split Decision Henderson and Bisping caused a rift in my house hehe. I was sure Bisping would pull it off and my husband swore Henderson would win easily. Bisping was looking like he'd get the win, when suddenly Henderson explodes in round 2 and knocks out the trash talking Englishman by knocking him out with 1 punch, and then threw one more for good measure aka revenge leaving Bisping unconscious for at least a few minutes. DAN HENDERSON vs. MICHAEL BISPING - Winner: Henderson – Knockout Round 2 Turning point of the Night award St-Pierre and Alves... was there really any doubt Georges would kick some major butt? Ok, Alves is a great fighter so there was SOME doubt. Alves was phenomenal and lasted the full 5 rounds, but it's just hard for anyone to fight against the easy take downs of St-Pierre. Even with a groin injury sustained in round 3, Georges still goes the distance and wins by decision. GEORGES ST. PIERRE vs. THIAGO ALVES - Winner: Georges St. Pierre – Unanimous Decision Mir and Lesnar. Another bout that was a robbery in a sense. Lesnar won fairly, but he shouldn't have had the belt to begin with having a 3-1 record. The man has talent for sure, but there are dozens of men with talent who had proven records. The crowd was unhappy with the loss to Mir and made it clear booing loudly and often. Lesnar responded with "I love it" and flipped off the crowd. This isn't WWE Mr. Lesnar. In this sport, the fans are important to the bottom line. Then to shoot down one of the bigger sponsors by loudly discounting Bud Light as viable tells me that there may still be some fallout for Lesnar when all is said and done. BROCK LESNAR VS. FRANK MIR - Winner: Brock Lesnar – TKO Round 2 MATT GRICE VS. SHANNON GUGERTY - Winner: Gugerty – Submission Round 1 (Guillotine Choke) C.B. DOLLAWAY VS. TOM LAWLOR - Winner: Lawlor – Submission Round 1 (Guillotine Choke) Submission of the night award T.J. GRANT VS. DONG HYUN KIM – Winner: Kim – Unanimous Decision JON JONES VS. JAKE O’BRIEN – Winner: Jones – Submission Round 2 (Guillotine Choke) MAC DANZIG VS. JIM MILLER - Winner: Miller – Unanimous Decision STEPHAN BONNAR VS. MARK COLEMAN - Winner: Coleman – Unanimous Decision ALAN BELCHER VS. In what had been billed as the greatest night in UFC history, we see several blockbuster fighters come together for a phenominal night of serious ass kicking. Preceding the event was 2 days of autograph signing, merchandise shopping, and all around fun at the first UFC fan expo. Last night we saw Chuck Liddel inducted into the UFC hall of fame, and today we see a night of warriors come together to prove who reigns supreme in their respective divisions. The real story comes after the main event though, when Lesnar gets up in Mir's face and it takes 6 security guards to separate them. Lesnar then disses one of the biggest sponsers, Bud Light, and then flips off the crowd and encourages them to boo. He's certainly not winning any friends here so I guess we wait and see if TuF 10 turns out any heavyweights capable of teaching the former WWE star a lesson in humility.
